This is the cage used in numerous national and international level
competitions since 1980. Based on the ideas of world-class throwers
and Olympic coaches, AAE Hammer-Discus Cages meets NCAA or IAAF requirements.
Its a dual-event cage designed and built to exacting AAE quality
standards for safety, durability and economy in the long run.
Eight aluminum posts are cantilevered to provide increased safety
for competitors, spectators and officials. The main safety net is
secured on the inside of the cage, preventing flying implements from
striking the framework. Plus, the outside of the cage allows the installation
of an optional backup net to keep people away from the potential danger
zone near the main safety net. AAE Hammer-Discus Cages are easy
to erect, handle, move and store because aluminum is as strong as
steel at one-third the weight.
Dual swinging gates narrow the throwing area for the hammer event,
and accommodate right-handed and left-handed throwers. The exclusive
AAE design features a double-ply net on the gate, and a special cable-frame
on the outer vertical edge to eliminate the framework in the area
most frequently struck.
